My Opinions About Portfolios

★What do you see in the future in regards to technology and educational technology?

I think in the future the technology and educational technology will be the main current in every domain in the world. As an educator, we should develop and advance our technology ability applied in our course and make our students know how to use it in their daily life. It’ important for them to realize how to use technology well and adapt the technological future.


★ If you were granted $20,000 to use in your school for educational technology, how would you use it?

First, I’ll spend $10,000 on projectors to make every classroom in my school owns the fixtures. So that every teacher in his classroom can easily use his computer projecting in the screen on the wall and show some interesting graph, pictures, and stories etc. to the students.

Next, I’ll spend the spare money buying computers for some students in poverty. I think although they couldn’t choose what environments they born to be, they can improve themselves by learning and studying. Technology will be the main current in the future, and if they can learn how to use computer when they are young, the technological learnig will open their eyes and mind and lead them to see and think clearly what the world actually is.


★ How would you use a portfolio (think about grants, raises, changes in position, like the building techie, etc. )

In teaching, I use a portfolio to memorize and organize what I think and want to present to my students in class. I’ll classify the materials by subjects and functions. When the course proceeding, I can find and show the information easily and quickly from the potfolio and make my students know more about the knowledge that can’t be found from the textbooks.

In counseling, I use a portfolio to record students’ mental development. If I find something out-there, I’ll talk to my students and try to help them to face and solve their problems themselves. So I have a long-list-description portfolio to each student in my class. And I’ll keep them although they graduate from elementary school. I think it’s a procession and it can help me correct my strategies any time when I meet different students who have different problems.

About myself, I use a portfolio to note my daily expressions, photos, and acquaintance about books, movies, series, music etc.. I think it’s necessay for me to keep these in the portfolio and it signifies part of me. It can be a track including what I thought, what I was moved, what I saw, and who I am. Just like keep a diary, using technology tools today we have more and more different ways to keep it.

1. Students’ Personal Data
2. Students’ Diary and Blog Records
3. Students’ Individual Depth Interview Records
4. Students’ Daily Behavior Observations
5. Parents’ Individual Interview Records
6. Blog about my class to tell or show something to my students


My personal Portfolios about:

1. A personal homepage to introduce myself from different stages.
2. Internet Albums to see what the world actually is from my sight through the lens
3. My favorite collections, like music, featurettes, and articles.
4. The softwares I often use, like Photoimpact, VLC media player, Real Player, Kkman, Scratch, Adobe Audition etc..
