My Opinions about Database & Spread Sheets

★ How do you use Database?
I use Database to keep students’ data, including birthdays, address, id numbers, weights, heights, e-mail address, blog adderss, and msn accounts. In the other hand, I use it to write some memos about special and unusual cases.

★ How do your students use Database?
My students are too young for they are only ten or eleven, but I have taught them using Database to categorize their base datas and home addresses.

★ What else would you like to do with DB - think in terms of student tools/assessment as well as teacher productivity.
I’d like to use DB to organize all my imformations well and make them systematically. And then, I can apply them to my teaching and set a good example to my students. It’s important to a teacher to teach students how to manage their life by themselves when they are young. So maybe DB can be useful to all of us to arrange our plans, our heartbeat, and our life in order.

★ How do you use Spreadsheets?

I use Spreadsheets to keep and calculate students’ grades, print the transcripts, design learning and exam papers, and make schedules by its powerful functions.

★ How do your students use Spreadsheets?

My students often use Spreadsheets to do their math assignments, including averages, medians, modes, bar graphs, and curves. They also use Spreadsheets to play some quizs and puzzles.

★ What else would you like to do with SS - think in terms of student tools/assessment as well as teacher productivity.

I’d like to use SS to design some interesting games for my students to play. Like fractal puzzles, guessing numbers, making phrases, and so on. I think if teachers use SS well, it can bring lots of fun to all students, and I also believe it is good to them to learn from SS. Happily learning makes possible to students. Don’t be self-handicapped, we’ll go so far so long more than we imagine it.
